“Fivefold ministry” has become somewhat of a buzz term in the charismatic world. It almost seems as if putting “Apostle” or “Prophet” before your name as a Christian speaker gives you more authority and credibility. But what is the fivefold ministry and apostolic ministry all about?
For years, I taught that the role of the fivefold ministry is, as Ephesians 4:11 says, to “equip the saints for works of ministry.” But could it be that in light of the context of the whole letter to the church in Ephesus the purpose of the fivefold ministry is to contend for the unity of the Church, of Jew and Gentile, all in the body of Messiah?
