Did you ever think you had a smart idea, only to realize that you had been arrogant and that the idea wasn’t that smart after all?

Our prophet Jeremiah addressed some serious issues with the people of Judah (Judah was the southern kingdom of the kingdom of Israel that had fallen apart after king Solomon). Check out his words:

“For my people are foolish;
they know me not;
they are stupid children;
they have no understanding.
They are ‘wise’—in doing evil!
But how to do good they know not.”
(Jeremiah 4:22 ESV)

Things are not very much different in our time. Jeremiah was addressing the arrogance of the people of Judah, how they were “wise” in doing evil.

I just have to think of the arrogant wokeism of the people in the western world today, how they think they are so “wise” that they can play God as it relates to life and death (abortion and euthanasia), how they think they are so “wise” that they can redefine gender and sexuality, and how they are so “wise” to boast that the One who created them doesn’t exist.

Could judgment be coming to the western world for all this? When you look at the Biblical record, you see time and time again that God often uses war or captivity to judge a nation and bring it to repentance. I sure don’t like that idea. But there will be a moment when this becomes inevitable. So that’s why it’s important to keep praying for our nations to repent.

I love the words from YHWH God that he spoke when Solomon inaugurated the temple in Jerusalem:

“If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
(2 Chronicles 7:14 ESV)

Let’s keep praying for the tide to turn and for our nations to again call out to the God who created them!

  1. “My people…” is the Church (spiritual Israel, but not their replacement). We need to repent of our pagan/papist/traditions of men feast days in our worship of God. Wrong worship of the true God is idolatry. And rebellion to His command of Deuteronomy 12. Judgement comes first to the House of God. Jeremiah was pleading with Israel to stop worshiping God in the same manner as pagans worshiped their idols. Just as the men Jeremiah pleaded with so the Church refuses to let go of their pagan “holy” days, holy to them but not to God. He has not, nor ever will, ordain pagan feast days to honor Him with for He does not compromise with evil.

    Blessings, brother, amen!
