One of the up and coming end time perspectives in both the charismatic and the reformed world is preterism, the belief that most end time prophecies have already been fulfilled. Full preterism adds to that, and even teaches that Jesus has already returned in judgment in 70 AD in the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple.
The question is: should we accept preterism as solid doctrine or reject it as heresy?
Last week I interviewed my good friend Joel Richardson of Frontier Alliance International. In the video interview we looked at questions such as:
- Is preterism a novelty, or did the early church already believe this?
- Is preterism related to amillennialism or postmillennialism?
- And how does preterism relate to futuristic end time views?
- Is there a link between preterism and word of faith, prosperity gospel, hyper grace and the health & wealth gospel?
- And what about replacement theology, the idea that God is finished with Israel? Is preterism a new form of replacement theology?
Have a look at the interview and let me know what you think!
